PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS AT CALVERT LANDFILL SITE

"Bucks CC have advised the Council of a formal request for scoping opinion under planning regulations as WRG are intending to prepare a planning submission in respect of an energy from waste (EfW) facility and associated developments at the Calvert Landfill Site.
The main feature of the proposed development is a single line energy from waste (EfW) plant with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year, to be built on land within WRG's ownership to the south of the Calvert landfill site. The waste would be brought in by road via a new access road, from the A41, developed on the disused railway line.
The hot gases leaving the furnace would be cooled by passing through a steam boiler and steam would generate electricity for export to the National Grid.
The EfW plant would have a state-of-the-art Air Pollution Control system to protect air quality.
Currently the Parish Council have been asked to advise Bucks CC of any issues which the Council consider must be included in the Environment Statement that would accompany the application for planning permission."

PARISH COUNCIL SETS NEXT YEAR'S PRECEPT

"At the meeting of the Council on 22nd January 2009, the council approved a 3% (equivalent to an additional £400) increase in its precept for 2009/10 over 2008/9 levels, and the expenditure plans for the coming year includes six additional grass cuts (£4,464) of the open spaces, over the ten already scheduled by AVDC and the funding of a bus shelter (£5,000) by the Community Hall to provide shelter for school children and others waiting for buses. The Council committed to these relative high cost items, under the proviso that the Council would endeavour to secure external funding for these items during the year, if possible."
